On 7 May 2024, Prof. Song Xiaodong of Peking University visited the GNSS Center of Wuhan University. Academician Liu Jingnan, Professor Xu Caijun, Professor Geng Jianghui, Professor Li Min, Professor Geng Tao, Professor Pan Yudi, Researcher Li Jiangtao, Researcher Wang Pai, Associate Professor Li Mengkui, Associate Professor Zhang Yu, and Associate Researcher Li Guangcai, and other scholars and experts and students attended this meeting.
    Prof Geng Jianghui delivered a welcome speech. Professor Song Xiaodong gave a lecture entitled "Some New Understandings on the Structure and Dynamics of the Deep Earth". He provided a detailed overview of the historical process of research on the Earth's inner core and the new understandings gained so far. He also revealed the controlling role of the Earth's deep processes on seismic activities and surface deformation. Furthermore, a detailed image of the spatial and temporal evolution of rupture and the triggering mechanism were reconstructed in the context of the double earthquakes in Turkey.     The meeting was conducted in a cordial and productive atmosphere, with both parties engaging in comprehensive and detailed discussions on the contents of the report, from its core to its surface, from single observations to multidisciplinary cross-references. This approach effectively promoted a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the Earth's structure and geophysical phenomena among teachers and students.
