Experts from Indonesian Geospatial Government Agencies Visit for Academic Exchange — Special Session at Wuhan University

    On November 14, 2024, a delegation from Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency of Indonesia (BMKG) visited Wuhan University for an exchange meeting. The meeting was held in Room 1002 on the 10th floor of Xinghu Building, GNSS Research Center, Wuhan University. Experts from BMKG, National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN), and Geospatial Information Agency of Indonesia (BIG) attended the meeting. The delegation included Dr. Rahmat Triyono, Mr. Supriyanto Rohadi, Mr. Ajat Sudrajat, Mr. Retno Agung Prasetyo Kambali, Mr. Thomas Hardy, and Mr. Brilian Tatag Samapta from BMKG; Researcher Susilo from BRIN; and Mr. Muhammad Al Kautsar from BIG, among others.

    Academician Liu Jingnan from Wuhan University delivered the welcome speech. Professor Geng Jianghui from the Institute of Precision Measurement Science and Technology Innovation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Professor Li Zhao, Professor Li Tao, Professor Fang Rongxin from the Satellite Navigation and Positioning Technology Research Center, Wuhan University, Associate Professor Li Guangcai, Postdoctoral Fellow Wen Qiang, Postdoctoral Fellow Liu Kai from the GNSS Research Center, and Pai Wang from the GNSS Research Center also participated in the meeting.

    The meeting was opened by the Pai Wang from Wuhan University, who warmly welcomed the Indonesian colleagues. Following this, representatives from both sides provided detailed introductions to their respective institutions, research achievements, and technological advancements. Presentations included an introduction to the GNSS Research Center at Wuhan University, the functions of the BMKG, an overview of BRIN's research areas, and the development of GNSS data processing in earthquake/tsunami early warning at BIG.

    During the subsequent discussion, both sides engaged in an in-depth exchange regarding the application of high-precision GNSS technology in earthquake and tsunami early warning systems. The two parties also explored potential directions for future collaboration. The meeting concluded with a group photo in a friendly atmosphere. This meeting not only fostered technical exchanges between Chinese and Indonesian institutions in the field of earthquake and tsunami early warning but also laid a solid foundation for future scientific collaboration between the two parties.
