Feng Wang and Kunlun Zhang won the “ION GNSS+ 2023 Student Paper Award” for their study titled “All-frequency GNSS PPP-RTK using observable-specific signal biases for urban environment”. This study was supervised by Prof. Jianghui Geng. In this study, they developed a concept of all-frequency PPP-RTK, based on observable-specific phase biases, and undifferenced and uncombined GNSS model, which could achieve “plug and play” and uncombined ambiguity resolution for any signal frequency. Compared to conventional PPP-RTK, all-frequency has better flexibility and availability. According to the results of vehicle-borne experiments, all-frequency PPP-RTK could achieve an ambiguity fixing rate of 81% for BDS-3 signals, while only 54% in conventional PPP-RTK.
ION GNSS+ conference is the world’s largest technical meeting and showcase for GNSS technology, products and services. The event has been hosted on an annual basis for the past 35 years and is normally attended by more than 1,200 engineers and navigation professionals from more than 40 countries. There are only six winners of the “Student Paper Award” this year.
Feng Wang attended ION GNSS+ 2023 which was held in Denver, USA from September 11 to 15. He gave a report in E3b Session. After presentation, researchers from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, University of Calgary, York University, National Cheng Kung University and Google had effective discussions and communications with him on the content of the report. He also received the “Student Paper Award” on behalf of himself and Kunlun Zhang.
