Prof. Geng Jianghui and student Lin Jihang from the PrideLab were invited to deliver an online short course titled "2023 Multi-GNSS Precise Point Positioning and PRIDE PPP-AR Short Course" at EarthScope Consortium from September 25 to 27, 2023. The short course drew more than 100 participants from around the world, who learned the basic principles of GNSS PPP-AR data processing, the features and usage of the open-source software PRIDE PPP-AR, and its application in scientific research.
The EarthScope Consortium is a non-profit university collaborative that supports innovative geophysical research and education on a global scale. It is funded by the NSF and supported by the NASA and the USGS. It was formed in 2023 by merging the former IRIS and UNAVCO, two leading organizations in seismology and geodesy research. The consortium aims to enhance the public understanding of the Earth processes and their impacts.
This was not the first time that the PrideLab offered short courses online. In September 2022, Prof. Geng Jianghui and students Lin Jihang and Zeng Jing delivered "2022 SHORT COURSE: MULTI-GNSS PRECISE POINT POSITIONING AND PRIDE PPP-AR" In September 2021, Prof. Geng Jianghui delivered "2021 SHORT COURSE: MULTI-GNSS PPP" These courses received positive feedback from the attendees. Through these courses, the PrideLab improved its international communication skills, increased its visibility, and refined its open source software PRIDE PPP-AR based on the suggestions from the scholars.
The open source software PRIDE PPP-AR developed by the PrideLab is regularly updated on GitHub. The videos of the short courses conducted by the PrideLab on EarthScope Consortium and UNAVCO are archived on YouTube (2023,2022,2021), which can be downloaded and watched by anyone who is interested.
